Following a close week two win over the Old Aztecs in San Diego, Life West faced winless Olympic Club on Treasure Island in perfect rugby conditions. Finding their footing early, Life went ahead through tries by Pila Longi and Anthony Muñoz. Olympic responded with two penalties through the boot of Keegan Englebrecht, and a try by fullback Jake Anderson brought Olympic back into the fray 12-11 at the 25 minute mark. The Gladiators hit back with 10 minutes to go in the first half, and continued their momentum through to the second half, notching four unconverted tries to go ahead 32–11.
Twenty minutes left had Life ahead 39 – 16, with Pila Longi dotting down four times in the daily effort and left wing Anthony Muñoz picking up a second. First-quarter student Guillaume Cazenave proved handy in the centres as well, his first touch of the bench leading to Pila Longi’s fourth try of the day. Some back-and-forth between the two teams lead to a final score of 46 – 23 to Life West. Now at the midway point of the Cal Cup season, Life West sits alone at the top of the table with an undefeated record of 3-0. Olympic drops to 0-3.
