Our Life West Gladiatrix travelled to San Jose and came out with a convincing 85 — 0 win, with strong performances by forwards Sarah McArthur, Mele Taumoefolau, Jordan Gray, and backs Mata Hingano & Morgan Rovetti. At Sunset Field in Hayward, the Gladiator Cal Cup side hosted the Glendale Raptors from Colorado for a high-level exhibition match. Although flowing and creative rugby was played by both sides, the Raptors came out on top 50 — 19 at the final whistle.
In the final match of the day, the men’s D1 season started off with a bang, facing cross-town rivals EPA in a hotly contested slugfest that stayed close until the end, with the Gladiators coming out ahead 30 — 27 with students Charlie Brennan, Sean Riley, Placido Castrejon, Tyler Harrison, Moses Villarreal, and Tyler Hutcherson featuring. Next weeks’ D1 match will be against SFGG.
